29-year-old trainee doctor dies by suicide in Noida, jumps from 21st floor

A 29-year-old trainee doctor died by suicide after jumping from the 21st floor of a residential tower in Gaur City 14th Avenue in Greater Noida on Monday.

Police said they received information about the incident and took the man to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased, being identified as Shiva, was from Mathura and had arrived in Greater Noida one day before the incident.

Shiva, who had come to Gaur City 2 with his parents to visit his sister, stepped out of the flat around noon and jumped from the balcony.

Family members informed the police that Shiva was a 2015 MBBS batch student and had studied at a private college in Delhi.

In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, he developed a mental health condition, which led him to stop his medical training. According to the family, he had been in depression since then.

“A young man named Shiva has died by suicide after jumping from the 21st floor. His family was present at the location. Further legal procedures are underway,” said Shaivya Goyal, Additional DCP Central Noida.

No suicide note was found at the scene. The police sent the body for post-mortem and the matter is under investigation.
