Senior Jammu and Kashmir BJP leader Sunil Sharma has launched a scathing attack on the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government, saying that despite the tall promises made during the elections, the government has completely failed to provide employment to qualified youth. He alleged that instead of providing jobs to the youth, the government is re-employing retired officers through questionable administrative decisions.
Sunil Sharma claimed that a recently re-employed retired officer is allegedly a close relative of a senior leader of the ruling party, who was brought back into service through orders of the General Administration Department (GAD). He said that another retired officer was previously accommodated in the Tourism Department in a similar manner.
Calling these moves “anti-youth,” the opposition leader said that the NC government has seriously eroded public trust. He called the government’s promise of providing one lakh jobs a “joke,” saying that benefiting relatives and favorites through nepotism is a direct betrayal of the public.
Sharma demanded the government immediately end such unethical and alleged corrupt practices.
Sunil Sharma also questioned other government promises. He said that the promise of 200 units of free electricity made during the last budget session remains unfulfilled. He alleged that approximately 800,000 registered families in Jammu and Kashmir are still awaiting electricity under the Solar Energy Free Electricity Scheme.
The BJP leader said that the current government is relying on false promises and repeated failures, the consequences of which are being borne by the unemployed youth of the state.
