“Dialogue, respect, and peace are the PDP’s path—the BJP is spreading confusion in the name of the Dixon Plan,” says Mehbooba Mufti

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has clearly stated that her party’s sole agenda is to restore lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir through dialogue, development, and regional integration. She stated unequivocally that the PDP wants peace with dignity and respect, not under the shadow of fear and oppression.

Mehbooba Mufti, referring to the era of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, said that it was then that her father and PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed opened the path to dialogue within Jammu and Kashmir and with Pakistan. Historic routes like the Poonch-Rawalakot and Uri-Muzaffarabad were opened under that policy.

She said that once the situation normalizes, the army should return to the barracks, and the two power projects snatched from Jammu and Kashmir should either be returned or adequate compensation should be provided. The PDP wants the government to move beyond files and reach the people’s doorsteps. Arrived.

Criticizing the National Conference and the BJP for demanding separate divisions for the Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley, Mehbooba Mufti stated that this demand is purely administrative, not political. Its purpose is to ensure balanced development and better governance in neglected areas, not to carry out any conspiracy.

Rejecting the allegations linking it to the Dixon Plan, Mehbooba Mufti stated that the Dixon Plan has never been the PDP’s agenda. Responding to Farooq Abdullah’s statement, she said that she respects him, but that similar formulas led to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s imprisonment.

Mehbooba said that the Pir Panjal region bears the brunt of India-Pakistan border tensions, while the Chenab Valley is environmentally extremely sensitive and frequently vulnerable to natural disasters. Therefore, strengthening these areas administratively is the need of the hour.

In a direct attack on the BJP, she said that the party is deliberately creating a false narrative by linking her demand to Pakistan and the Dixon Plan. The state’s boundaries have already been changed in 2019, with the separation of Ladakh.
The PDP neither wants to merge these areas with Kashmir nor separate them—it only wants to provide relief to the people by granting them divisional status.
