The Congress party is once again actively working to strengthen its political base in Jammu and Kashmir. After completing the appointment of district presidents after a long gap, the party is now moving forward with the formation of organizational units at the block level. The objective is clear: to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and reach out to as many people as possible.
Under the leadership of State President Tariq Hameed Karra, Congress’s organizational activities have gained new momentum. Karra has been in office for nearly a year and a half, and during this time, he has prioritized strengthening the organization at the district level. Due to his active efforts, a total of 21 district presidents have been appointed in Jammu and Kashmir, including Jammu District Urban and Jammu District Rural.
The district presidents have intensified organizational activities as soon as they assumed office. Currently, the party is conducting a continuous public relations campaign regarding the MNREGA Bachao Sangram Abhiyan and the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. District presidents are playing a key role in strengthening these campaigns at the district level.
State President Tariq Hameed Karra has clarified that the Congress will soon strengthen block-level units across Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that strengthening the organization at the block level will strengthen the party’s roots at the grassroots level. Following the formation of block units, the process of forming a state executive will also begin.
Party Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma stated that the Congress will strongly raise important public issues in the upcoming Assembly budget session. These include the demand for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, unemployment, problems of temporary employees, and opposition to the implementation of a new law replacing MNREGA.
It is noteworthy that the Congress currently has a total of six MLAs in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, one from the Jammu division and five from Kashmir. Despite the limited number, the Congress is focused on expanding its organization at the grassroots level and strongly raising public issues.
The party leadership has a clear message – if the organization becomes strong then the political power will also increase, and under this strategy, Congress is preparing to register its political presence in Jammu and Kashmir afresh.
