Security forces’ campaign against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is steadily intensifying. An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Zafar area under the Ramnagar police station area of Udhampur district on Tuesday, killing one terrorist.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out as part of the joint counter-terrorism operation “Operation Kiya,” based on intelligence inputs. A joint team of the Indian Army’s CIF Delta and White Knight Corps, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (SOG), and the CRPF established contact with the terrorists around 4 p.m., following which an exchange of fire began in the area.
According to reports, the terrorists were hiding in a cave. Security forces surrounded the entire area and launched a search operation, killing one terrorist. Two to three terrorists are believed to be still trapped in the area, and the operation is ongoing.
Sources say the slain terrorist may have been affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist organization, although his identity and other details are still being officially confirmed.
Officials stated that Jaffar and surrounding areas are on high alert. Security forces have clarified that the campaign to root out terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir will continue with full force.
