Politics intensifies over Bengal transfers, Omar Abdullah openly supports Mamata Banerjee

JNM journalist Hardeep Jamwal, Jammu

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has openly supported Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee amid the ongoing political turmoil surrounding the massive administrative transfers in West Bengal. He questioned the Election Commission’s actions, stating that elections are decided not by officials but by the public and political leadership.

In view of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, the Election Commission recently transferred more than 50 senior police and civil administration officials. This decision has sparked a political uproar in the state. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has criticized the Election Commission and the central government over these transfers, calling them unprecedented and worrying.

Omar Abdullah, responding via his social media platform, said that such widespread transfers are often seen in non-BJP-ruled states, and West Bengal is no exception. He categorically stated that administrative reshuffles have no significant impact on election results.
Omar Abdullah further stated that the basis for winning elections is not the transfer of officials, but the support base and leadership of political parties. He expressed confidence that Mamata Banerjee will once again win with a landslide victory on election day.
This entire incident has once again intensified the debate over administrative interference in the electoral process. The opposition and the ruling party are exchanging accusations, which is likely to further escalate the political temperature in the coming days.
