The first phase of the ongoing digital census process in Jammu and Kashmir will conclude at 12 midnight on Sunday. With this, the self-enumeration portal will be closed, and the second phase of the census will begin on Monday, June 1st. Deployed enumerators and census officers will go door-to-door to collect information and verify previously entered data.
Chief Census Officer Amit Sharma has appealed to citizens who have not yet entered their information on the self-enumeration portal to complete the process within the stipulated timeframe. He explained that the purpose of the self-enumeration is to provide citizens with the opportunity to enter their family details themselves, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and reliability of the data.
He said that during the second phase, starting June 1st, enumerators will conduct door-to-door surveys for the next 30 days. During this period, the data recorded through self-enumeration will be verified and the data will be finally locked. For families who have not completed the self-enumeration online, the information will also be recorded by officials directly on-site.
The administration has clarified that all information collected during the census will be kept completely confidential and will only be used for the formulation of government policies, development plans, social welfare programs, and better distribution of resources.
Officials have appealed to the general public to provide accurate and complete information to the census teams and actively cooperate in this campaign of national importance. The administration states that the data obtained from the census will serve as the basis for the future development of education, health, roads, electricity, water, and other infrastructure, and for the equitable distribution of resources.
According to the Census Department, the participation of every citizen is crucial to the success of this campaign. Therefore, people should cooperate with the survey teams and play their part in the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir by providing accurate information.
