DC reviews progress of work on NH144-A, other road projects in Poonch

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the progress of work on Road Projects being executed by Border Roads Organization (BRO)  in the District.

The meeting was attended by key BRO officers, the collector of land acquisition, and Tehsildars. The discussions centered on the advancement of critical infrastructure projects, including the Jammu to Poonch NH144-A highway, Rajouri Thanamandi Surankote Road (RTS) and Shahpur Road which are essential for regional connectivity and development.

The Deputy Commissioner received updates on the progress of work on Jammu – Poonch NH144-A. It was informed that land acquisition and utility shifting processes are underway. He emphasized the urgency of timely disbursement of land compensation to facilitate the progress of these projects.

The concerned agencies were asked to expedite the removal of the structures within the alignment of RTS and NH144-A, for which compensation has already been paid to landowners. “This step is vital to clear the bottlenecks and ensure the smooth execution of these pivotal projects’ the DC said.
