The political atmosphere has once again heated up over the issue of restoring full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. National Conference President Farooq Abdullah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and he hopes the central government will take steps in this direction soon.
Speaking to reporters in Anantnag, Farooq Abdullah said that the Prime Minister recently reiterated his commitment to restoring statehood during his meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He said that the Prime Minister has assured that the promise of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will be fulfilled. Consequently, the public and political parties are now keenly watching the central government’s next move.
Farooq Abdullah said that the National Conference is not limited to administrative powers or business rules, but is demanding the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He said that this is a promise that was made publicly at the national and international level, and therefore, it must be fulfilled.

Meanwhile, the National Conference has also decided to intensify its struggle on this issue. The party has announced that a protest will be held in New Delhi on the first day of the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament. This decision was made at a meeting of party MLAs chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on June 3.

Political experts believe that the issue of restoration of statehood could become the biggest topic of Jammu and Kashmir politics in the coming times. All eyes are now on the central government’s decision and the monsoon session of Parliament.

Currently, the question that remains a topic of discussion among the people of Jammu and Kashmir is when statehood will be restored and when will the central government implement its promise.
