Continuing its crackdown against criminal elements, Jammu Rural Police detained another notorious criminal and history-sheeter of Police Station Gharota under the provisions of the Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) for his continuous involvement in criminal activities and for posing a threat to public order.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Aslam S/o Ahmed Din R/o Orak, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu. A PSA warrant under Section 8(1)(a) of the J&K Public Safety Act, 1978 was executed against him and he was accordingly taken into custody by police.
The accused was found repeatedly involved in various criminal cases registered under different sections of law at Police Station Gharota. Despite repeated legal action, he continued to indulge in unlawful activities, thereby creating fear and disturbance in the area.
Considering his persistent criminal conduct and its impact on public peace and tranquillity, Jammu Rural Police initiated proceedings under the PSA and prepared a dossier recommending his preventive detention.
Accordingly, after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, the accused was detained under the provisions of PSA and shall be lodged in jail as per the orders issued by the District Administration.
Jammu Rural Police reiterated its firm commitment towards maintaining public order and taking stringent action against habitual offenders and anti-social elements to ensure safety and security of the public.
