The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has taken a significant step towards improving the safety and well-being of Jammu city’s roads. Potholes on the city’s roads will now be identified using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, while a state-of-the-art machine worth ₹1.3 crore has been deployed for their repair.
This new initiative, launched before the arrival of the monsoon, aims to identify potholes on the roads in a timely manner and fill them as quickly as possible, ensuring safe and smooth traffic.
A live demonstration of this project was held in Jammu on Tuesday. During the demonstration, Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav explained that the corporation has decided to make the road repair process more efficient and scientific by adopting modern technology.
He explained that the corporation has installed AI-enabled cameras in the corporation’s special surveillance vehicles, which will continuously monitor various roads in the city. This system will automatically identify potholes and other defects on the road, geo-tag their exact location, and send a digital report to the relevant engineering team.
Upon receiving the report, the repair team will arrive at the site to repair the potholes using a new cold emulsion patching machine. This machine is considered capable of providing durable and fast road repairs in all weather conditions.
The Municipal Corporation states that the combination of AI technology and modern machinery will significantly reduce the time between pothole identification and repair. This will help reduce road accidents, improve traffic flow, and prevent road damage during rains.
Experts believe that this initiative is an important step towards making Jammu a smart and technology-driven city. Data-driven urban management and the use of modern technologies are being used to provide better services to citizens.
If this project is successful, Jammu’s road monitoring and repair system could become faster, more transparent, and more effective than ever before.
