In view of the massive influx of pilgrims during Chaitra Navratri, the Indian Railways has taken a major decision. For the convenience of devotees coming from across the country, the operation period of New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special Train 04081-04082 has been extended. This decision will provide significant relief to thousands of pilgrims and make their journey easier than before.
According to railway officials, lakhs of pilgrims visit Katra every year to visit the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple during Chaitra Navratri. In view of this increasing number of pilgrims, the decision has been taken to run a special reserved train to ensure adequate seating for passengers and reduce crowd pressure.
According to railway information, train number 04081 will run 14 trips between New Delhi and Katra. This train was originally scheduled to run from February 21 to March 8, 2026, but its duration has now been extended to March 17 to March 30, 2026.
Similarly, train number 04082 will operate 14 trips between Katra and New Delhi. Originally scheduled to run from February 22 to March 9, 2026, the service has now been extended to March 18 to March 31, 2026.
Railway officials say that this special train was 100% occupant in the previous run, which led to the decision to extend its service. This will greatly benefit pilgrims visiting Kashmir during Navratri as well as tourists.
The Railways has urged passengers to check the train schedule and seat availability information on the railway helpline 139 or NTES before embarking on their journey, to avoid any difficulties during their journey.
