NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: Several States Announce Free Bus Services for AspirantsNew Delhi

Amid growing concern among students and parents over the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, several state governments have announced free bus services and travel assistance for aspirants. The move comes after the re-exam was ordered following the alleged paper leak controversy, which increased both financial and mental pressure on lakhs of students across the country.
Punjab became one of the first states to announce free travel facilities for NEET candidates. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that from June 20 to June 22, students would be allowed to travel free of cost in Punjab Roadways buses by simply showing their NEET admit cards. The government said the decision was taken to ensure that financially weaker students do not face difficulties in reaching their examination centres.
Following Punjab, the Bihar government also announced free bus travel for students appearing in the NEET re-exam. The state administration has additionally appealed to district authorities, NGOs and temple committees to arrange drinking water and other basic facilities for candidates during the examination period.
The Haryana government has also introduced special arrangements for NEET aspirants by providing free travel in Haryana Roadways buses on June 20 and 21. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that students should not face any transportation-related problems on the examination day.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal urged all state governments across India to provide free bus services for NEET candidates. He stated that students are already under immense stress due to the paper leak issue and the re-examination process, and governments should step forward to support them.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also directed states and local administrations to ensure proper arrangements at examination centres, including drinking water, electricity, fans, shaded waiting areas and transport facilities for students.
It is worth mentioning that the original NEET UG 2026 examination was conducted on May 3, but was later cancelled after allegations of a paper leak surfaced. The re-examination is now scheduled to be held on June 21, 2026. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that candidates will not be required to submit a fresh application form or pay any additional fee for the re-exam.
