The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Tuesday announced the annual results of the 10th grade class in the Summer Zone of the Jammu Division. This year, a total of 88.85% of students passed the exam. Girls once again performed exceptionally well, outperforming boys. The pass percentage for girls was 90.42%, while for boys it was 87.51%. Thus, girls have gained a nearly three percent lead.
According to data released by the board, a total of 50,754 students appeared for the exam. Of these, 27,486 were boys and 23,268 were girls. A total of 45,094 students passed, while approximately 5,650 failed.
The results were released, sparking jubilation among students and parents. Sweets were distributed in many schools, and students congratulated each other. Significantly, students from rural areas and government schools also performed well.
According to the board, subject-wise results were also significantly better this year. Social Studies achieved the highest pass rate at 96 percent. Furthermore, English, Hindi, and Science saw approximately 94 percent pass rates. Even in subjects considered difficult like Mathematics, 93 percent passed.
However, results in some subjects were lower than expected. Urdu saw approximately 90 percent pass rates, while telecommunications and some other vocational subjects saw significantly lower pass rates. Education experts believe that students face difficulties in these subjects due to a lack of teachers and resources.
Regarding grading, a large number of students received A-1, A-2, and B-1 grades. This clearly demonstrates not only the pass percentage but also the quality of the students. Many students have brought honor to their schools and families by achieving over 90 percent marks.
The board also cracked down on unfair means during the exams. Eight cases of cheating were reported. Two exams were cancelled, while subjects for some students were rescinded. Board officials stated that such action will continue in the future to ensure a transparent and fair examination system.
According to board rules, a student must obtain at least 33% marks to pass. Students who have passed the exam will now be eligible for admission to grade 11. Students who received low grades in any subject will have to improve their performance in the next exam, otherwise their admission may be affected.
The results also clearly demonstrate that girls in Jammu and Kashmir are continuously advancing in the field of education. Over the past few years, female students have consistently performed well in board exams, and this time too, through their hard work and dedication, they have proven that they are second to none.
