ANANTNAG: Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Aishmuqam today organised a program under the chairmanship of Munsiff/ JMIC Aishmuqam, Shyam Kumar. The function was attended by various members including Additional SP Anantnag (North), Ghulam Hassan; Heads of various departments, Tariq Hussain Shah and Tawheeda Khan, Penal Advocates as resource persons along with staff members, PLVs and various respectable members of the society.
The main focus of the function was ‘Reducing Plastic Waste and Preserving Bio Diversity’. Various students participated in the program and highlighted the problems faced by the use of Plastic waste and preservation of biodiversity.
Chairman TLSC delivered a speech and highlighted the various problems faced by the society by the use of Plastic and Preserving of Bio Diversity.
The function was concluded with a rally through the market area, where jute bags were distributed among various shopkeepers by Chairman TLSC Aishmuqam to reduce the use of Polythene bags.
KULGAM: In a significant initiative aimed at empowering tribal communities and fostering sustainable development, an awareness programme ‘Dharti Abha Janjatiya Utkarsh Abhiyan’ was successfully conducted in Manzgam today.
The event focused on raising awareness regarding welfare and development programs for tribal populations and environmental conservation. It attracted a substantial number of tribal residents, along with prominent figures from various sectors.
DDC Member Manzgam, Choudhary Jameela was the chief guest on the occasion. She underscored the importance of community involvement in achieving long-term socio-economic development for tribal communities and promoting sustainable environmental practices.
The District Social Welfare Officer Kulgam emphasized that tribal areas have historically been neglected and assured the community that all government benefits would be promptly extended to these regions.
This initiative is part of a broader movement to uplift tribal areas, addressing critical gaps in social infrastructure, health, education, and livelihood in such villages. Key objectives include improving housing conditions, promoting economic empowerment, enhancing educational access, and ensuring better healthcare services for tribal populations. Throughout the day, various activities were organized, including awareness programmes, interactive sessions and sports activities.
Educational kits were also distributed to meritorious tribal girls during the event. The event concluded with a call to action for all community members to actively engage in government efforts aimed at the development of tribal areas.
KUPWARA: On the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, M Rouf Rehman today chaired a meeting of all concerned officers to review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of upcoming JKSSB Examination (Constable) to be held with effect from 1st December 2024. During the meeting, the ADC stressed upon the officers to gear up their men and machinery and extend complete support to ensure fair and transparent conduct of the examination in the district.
The ADC took a detailed review of the arrangements including, establishment of Strong Room, CCTV Surveillance, deposition of the examination material, training of Centre Superintendents/ Invigilation staff and deployment of videographers. Besides, arrangements of electricity and water supply were also reviewed and the concerned Executive Engineers were directed to ensure these facilities are ensured well before the start of the examination.
Dy. SP Traffic and Dy. SP Hqr. Kupwara were directed to prepare a comprehensive traffic plan to ensure hassle free movement of staff, candidates and transportation of examination material. CMO was directed to ensure functioning of Health Centres located in the vicinity of the designated examination centres.
Deployment of Magistrates and Security arrangements were also discussed during the meeting. Chief Education Officer has been designated as District Nodal Officer for conduct of the JKSSB examination in the district. The meeting was attended by PO ICDS, ACR, CMO, CEO, Executive Engineers and other concerned Police and Civil officers.
BANDIPORA: In order to speed up the implementation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and guarantee its success in Bandipora district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri on Wednesday chaired a meeting with the concerned officers at mini secretariat Bandipora.
During the review, the concerned officers briefed the chair regarding the targets and achievements accomplished since the inception of the HADP in the district. The DC assessed the status of various components including promotion of Niche Crops, Hydroponic units, farm mechanisation, designer plant production and other elements. The meeting included in-depth discussions on addressing the challenges faced in implementing the programme, especially in remote areas and highlighted the significance of empowering farmers.
The DC asked the concerned to set clear deadlines for accomplishing specific objectives under the HADP programme and extend hand-holding to young and innovative entrepreneurs.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer and other concerned.
BARAMULLA: In an effort to engage with the community and address their grievances and demands at their doorstep, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa presided over a Block Diwas programme at Behrampora Watergam. Block Diwas was attended by the ADC Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina; officers of concerned line departments, public representatives, delegations, and a large number of people from Behrampora and adjacent villages.
During the program, the local residents and the public representatives put forth their grievances and demands before the DC and the officers for swift resolution. The main demands highlighted included the lack of healthcare facilities in the night hours, scarcity of potable drinking water, absence of veterinary care facilities in the area and other pressing issues concerning the local community.
During the Block Diwas event, the DC directed the health department to ensure the provision of 24/7 healthcare services at the Behrampura Primary Health Center. He also directed the officers of the Jal Shakti Department to expedite the upgradation of the water supply scheme in Behrampora, ensuring that residents no longer face inconveniences caused by drinking water shortages.
Meanwhile, Minga Sherpa informed the people gathered during the Block Diwas that a state-of-the-art veterinary facility has been approved for construction at Chijhama Rafiabad which will address the needs of livestock owners across the region. The DC also instructed officers from all departments to address the issues raised during the Block Diwas and ensure their prompt resolution.
Earlier, the DC accompanied by ADC Sopore and SP Sopore visited Amargarh Sopore Industrial Area and inspected the damages caused by the recent fire incident. He assured all the affected business holders of all possible support from the district administration to mitigate their losses.
BARAMULLA: The Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safina Beigh Wednesday chaired a review meeting of all DDC Members and Officers at Dak Bungalow here to take a first-hand appraisal of ongoing developmental works in the district. The meeting was attended by all the members of DDC, Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Qamar Sajad; Block Development Officers, Officers of R&B, RDD, PDD, and other departments.
At the outset, the ADDC provided a detailed presentation on the physical and financial progress achieved in developmental works being executed under different sectors in the district during the financial year 2024-25.
During the meeting, it was informed that for the financial year 2024-25, under ongoing works, 79 out of 112 projects approved under PRI, BDC, and DDC have been completed, with an expenditure of Rs.1.4 crore.
Similarly, under new works for the financial year 2024-25, 1,877 projects were approved under ADP (PRI/BDC/DDC). Of these, 1,710 works have been tendered, and 1,230 have been allotted, with a total allocated budget of Rs.31.4 crore.
The chairperson DDC conducted a comprehensive block-wise review of the projects undertaken under the Area Development Plan (ADP), encompassing works approved under PRI, BDC, and DDC categories. The review focused on assessing the progress of each project, identifying any challenges or delays, and evaluating the current status of their implementation and completion.
Meanwhile, the chairperson DDC also conducted the review of works undertaken by the R&B and other departments under District Capex, ABDP, DDC, and BDC and directed the officers to complete all the allocated works in accordance with the target deadlines.
During the meeting, Safina Beigh directed the concerned authorities to take strict action against contractors causing delays in completion of works by blacklisting them. Furthermore, it was instructed to re-tender the projects that remain pending due to the involvement of such contractors, ensuring that the works are expedited without further obstruction. Meanwhile, the DDC chairperson stressed on all the officers and the members of the DDC to ensure completion of targets and utilization of 100% funds to avoid any fund lapse and exhorted upon all the officers to maintain transparency and accountability in the execution of works.
During the meeting, Safina Beigh directed the officers to prevent any procedural delays and ensure that the allocated funds for the projects are utilized effectively without getting lapsed.
RAJOURI: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forests and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today held a series of public darbars at Allal, Darhali Morh and Dak Bungalow Kotranka during his extensive tour of various far off areas of Rajouri.
The Minister also paid obeisance at the revered Shahadara Sharif Shrine, interacted with devotees and enquired about facilities being provided to them there. During the public interaction at Allal village, Javed Rana directed the Irrigation Department to explore the feasibility of a lift irrigation scheme for the villages adjoining Allal. He announced that a water supply scheme for Thanamandi town has been approved under the AMRUT scheme, a significant step towards enhancing water availability in the region.
At Darhali Morh, the Minister directed the Forest Department to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for establishment of an Eco Park at shrine Sain Qader Baksh. This initiative aims to promote environmental conservation while boosting pilgrimage tourism. In a grand public gathering at Kotranka Dak Bungalow, the Minister was apprised of various issues and concerns of the area by MLA Budhal, Javed Iqbal Choudhary, DDC member, Shazia Choudhary and other prominent personalities.
The Minister assured that all grievances and demands would be addressed on priority. He emphasised the government’s commitment towards addressing unemployment, resolving developmental issues and regularising daily wagers.
Javed Rana also highlighted the need for effective implementation of the Forest Rights Act in Jammu & Kashmir, assuring the public that no harassment would be tolerated. He added that approvals for road construction projects would be prioritized.
The Minister issued several directives including preparation of a revised DPR for an irrigation scheme by the Irrigation Department, expeditious completion of ongoing schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and ensuring coverage of left-out areas by the Jal Shakti Department. MLA Budhal, Javed Iqbal urged upon the Minister to resolve key issues, including land compensation and regularisation of daily wagers.
The event witnessed active participation from locals, who expressed their gratitude for government’s developmental initiatives and raised their concerns. The Minister directed all the officers to redress public grievances on priority, reiterating government’s resolve to ensure equitable development across the Pir Panjal region.
DODA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda Harvinder Singh on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Bhagwah and its adjoining areas where he reviewed developmental activities and inspected government offices, besides addressing public grievances at a public outreach camp.
During the visit, the DC inspected the Bhagwah market to evaluate compliance with regulatory norms and resolve issues faced by traders and local residents. He also assessed the progress of blacktopping work on roads in the area, emphasizing the need for timely completion to enhance connectivity and improve infrastructure.
The DC announced the installation of an ATM in Bhagwah, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the locals. Later, he visited Tehsil Office and the Block Development Office (BDO) Bhagwah to inspect their working and status of public services delivery. He interacted with staff members, examined records, and discussed measures to improve the overall performance of these institutions.
The DC reviewed plans for constructing a new footpath in Upper Bhagwah. He stressed the importance of adhering to quality standards and timely execution of all developmental projects.
At Government Higher Secondary School Bhagwah, the DC inspected the school playground and directed immediate renovation to upgrade the facility for students. He also visited the library and computer lab, stressing the need for their proper maintenance and utilization to promote quality education.
A public grievances redressal camp was convened, where residents highlighted issues related to water supply, electricity, and other essential services. The DC Doda assured them of prompt action and instructed concerned departments to expedite solutions. Earlier, the DC reviewed the status of the Co-operative Marketing Society building in Bhagwah and inspected the amenities at local Anganwadi Centre, including the kitchen and attendance records, to ensure the effective delivery of services at the grassroots level.
SAMBA: Police has arrested a notorious thief in a theft case registered at Police Station Samba and recovered stolen motorcycle from his possession.
On 12-11-2024, a written report was lodged at Police Station Samba by one Sunil Kumar S/o Bhajan Kumar R/o Nadwal Samba regarding theft of his motorcycle bearing registration No. JK21J-2759 from District Hospital Samba. Acting over the complaint, a case FIR No. 296/2024 U/S 303(2) BNS was registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, Police arrested accused person namely Amarjeet Singh @Kaka S/o Buta Ram R/o Uccha Dhakala Berhampur, district Gurdaspur (Punjab) who upon sustained questioning confessed his involvement in the instant case. On his disclosure, stolen bike has been recovered from his possession.
Further on thorough interrogation, the accused turned out to be a notorious thief cum Narco smuggler involved in different FIR’s registered against him in Police Stations of State Punjab which includes:-

SAMBA: Police has worked out a theft case registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana district Samba by arresting three accused and recovering stolen property worth rupees 4.5 lakhs approximately from their possession.
On 29-10-2024, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Bari Brahmana regarding theft of KIE wire in the intervening night of 28/29-10-2024 from a godown falling under jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.
Upon receiving the complaint, a case FIR No. 147/2024 U/S 331(4)/ 305 BNS was registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, special team headed by SHO PS Bari Brahmana was constituted by ASP SDPO Bari Brahmana to work out the said theft case at the earliest. Police team after relentless efforts and meticulous investigation utilizing CCTV footage and other technical aids, successfully apprehended three accused namely Gafoor Mohd S/o Kasmat Ali R/o Pacholi Deon Purmandal, Sahil Hussain S/o Mohd Din R/o Arai tehsil Mandi district Poonch A/P Telli Basti Bari Brahmana and Naushad S/o Mehboob Ali R/o Batoada Budhana Muzzafar Nagar (UP) A/P Telli Basti Bari Brahmana who upon sustained questioning confessed their involvement in the instant case.
Further on the disclosure of said accused, stolen items were recovered. Investigation of the case is still going on.
