Gandoh students gain hands-on experience at Hydroelectric Power Project

DODA: In a unique educational initiative, Government Higher Secondary School Gandoh organized an industrial tour for students to the Donadi Hydroelectric Power Project under Samagra Shiksha.

The aim was to provide students a firsthand look at the technology and processes involved in generating clean energy.

A group of 55 ninth-grade students, accompanied by five staff members, embarked on this educational journey. The tour was flagged off by the school principal, Mohammad Ayoub Sheikh.

At the project site, students were guided by project in-charge Sunil Kumar and his team of experts. They were shown the intricate machinery and the ingenious process of harnessing the power of the Kalnai River.

The technical staff explained the environmental benefits and societal impact of hydroelectric power generation.

Inspired by the experience, students expressed a strong desire to explore renewable energy sources and potentially contribute to future sustainable energy initiatives. They were particularly impressed by the project’s role in powering local communities and essential services in the district.

The school administration and staff thanked the Samagra Shiksha authorities, the Director of School Education Jammu, the Chief Education Officer Doda, and the management of the Donadi Hydroelectric Power Project for providing this valuable learning opportunity.

DC encourages youth participation at NCC Rifle Shooting event in Doda

DODA: The 10 J&K Battalion NCC Bhaderwah, in collaboration with the District Administration Doda and District Youth Services and Sports Department, organized a rifle shooting event here at Shooting Hall, Sports Stadium.

Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh graced the occasion as the chief guest, engaging with NCC students and young shooters. He commended their efforts and dedication to the sport.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of sports, particularly shooting, in fostering discipline, focus, and national pride among youth. He encouraged the participants to excel in rifle shooting and bring honor to the country through their achievements.

Expressing his pride in Doda’s legacy, the DC highlighted that the district has produced skilled shooters who have represented at the national level, inspiring the next generation to aim higher. His interaction with NCC students was filled with motivating words, urging them to pursue their aspirations in the sport with determination and contribute to the nation’s reputation on the global stage.

The event was attended by NCC officers, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) DIO and NCC staff, as well as other sports personnel.

Sakeena Masood addresses Children’s Day celebrations at SKUAST Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Masood addressed the colourful Children’s Day celebrations at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir here.

The celebrations, organised by Directorate of School Education Kashmir in collaboration with Bharti Airtel Foundation and Pi Jam Foundation, saw an overwhelming participation of students from different higher educational institutions.

Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Gania; CEO Bharti Airtel Foundation, CEO Pi Jam Foundation, Director School Education Kashmir, Principals, Chief Education Officers, Lecturers and teacher from across the valley were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister emphasized on the critical role that education plays in shaping the future of children. “Children are flowers of our garden and future of our Jammu and Kashmir is dependent on them”, Sakeena Masood said.

She urged the gathering, especially teachers to foster creativity and critical thinking in children, preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow. “Children are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but also the visionaries and innovators who will shape the futuristic society,” Sakeena Masood stated. “It is essential that we provide them with tools, opportunities and encouragement to dream big and pursue their passions”.

The Minister, in her address also commended the role of teachers in overall development of society. She urged them to imbibe human values among the students apart from regular education so that they can emerge as beacons of hope for the society.

She further underlined that the government will contribute immensely for the development of education sector as it forms the core sector for any developed society. “Our government is keen to introduce new initiatives in education sector to make it competent with education system of developed nations”, Sakeena said.

In his address, VC SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad remarked that teachers are nation builders and the students are future of our nation. He highlighted about the importance of equitable access to quality education for all children, irrespective of background for overall development of the society.

The VC on the occasion also outlined some remarkable achievements of varsity in last few years. CEO, Bharti Airtel Foundation and CEO Pi Jam Foundation also spoke on the occasion. They enlightened the gathering about the role of their respective organisations in education sector.

On the occasion, the Minister also launched the Teacher Professional Development Program (The Teacher App) of Bharti Airtel Foundation. She also distributed the material for Tinkering spaces to various schools donated by Pi Jam Foundation. The Minister, on the occasion, also felicitated the JKBOSE toppers of class 12 examination.

JAMMU: Jammu police tightening noose against notorious criminals and drug peddlers, On 03/11/2024, a written complaint was lodged at Police P Station Nowabad by Shaista W/O Mohd. Khalil R/O Gujjar Nagar Jammu to the extent that her son namely Imran Khalil Aged-25 years was fired upon by some unknown person/persons at Nikki Tawi area during the intervening night of 02/03-11-2024 with the intention to kill him. He has been seriously injured and presently admitted in GMC, Jammu.

JAMMU: Jammu police tightening its noose against bovine smugglers under operation Kamdhenu Police team of Police Station Nagrota has foiled one bovine smuggling attempt in which 04 bovines were rescued from a vehicle bearing registration number No. JK02DK/1041 at Naka Ban Toll plaza. The driver of the vehicle arrested on the spot namely Reyaz Ahmed S/o Baj Din R/o Dukson Chanderkot Ramban.
*04 bovines were rescued and vehicle seized.

In this regard, a case FIR No.298/2024 U/S 223/BNS 11 PCA Act has been registered in Police Station Nagrota.
Further investigation is underway.

District Samba Prepares for Janjatiya Gaurav Divas Celebrations

Samba: In a comprehensive preparatory meeting held today at the Meeting Hall of the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Office Complex, Nandani Hills, Samba, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samba, Sh. Rajesh Sharma, outlined plans for the district-level celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas on November 15. The event will honor tribal heritage and continue with a series of programs in tribal-majority blocks and villages across the district from November 15 to 25.

The celebrations aim to showcase and honor the tribal culture and legacy through the Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), engaging communities in developmental initiatives. This series of events emphasizes inclusive participation and aims to address local needs in collaboration with various government departments.

During the meeting, DC Samba emphasized inter-departmental collaboration, highlighting the occasion as a model of cooperative federalism.

Specific instructions were issued to ensure that all arrangements for the main event on November 15 reflect the significance of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, setting a high standard for the upcoming series of events to foster community development and celebrate the tribal heritage of the region.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Smt. Champa Devi, PO ICDS Dr. Subhash Chandra, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Singh, and other district and sectoral officers, all of whom were encouraged to make the event memorable by working diligently toward a successful celebration of the tribal community’s contributions and achievements.
