In a significant development related to Ladakh, the Central government has decided to immediately revoke the detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk under the National Security Act. Following this government decision, Wangchuk’s detention has now been terminated.
It is reported that Wangchuk was detained on September 26, 2025. The administration took this step two days later in Leh following a protest demanding statehood for Ladakh and inclusion in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
