Samba Police worked out theft case; stolen items worth 2 lakhs recovered

Samba: Samba Police has worked out a theft case registered at Police Station Ghagwal, arrested three accused and recovered stolen items worth rupees two lakhs approximately from their possession.

On 29.01.2025, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Ghagwal by one Raman Singh S/o Parkash Chand R/o Chajarth tehsil Hiranagar district Kathua stating therein that some unknown persons have stolen two oxygen cylinders and some other materials from Narsehian Stone Crushers located in Bei Nallah near village Rai of tehsil Ghagwal district Samba.

Acting over the complaint, a case FIR No. 18/2025 U/S 331(3)/ 305 BNS was registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.

During the course of investigation, a police team headed by SHO PS Ghagwal has rounded up two suspects who upon sustained questioning confessed their involvement in the instant case. The arrested accused have been identified as Arun Sharma alias Rahul S/o Ram Paul R/o Rattanpur Surara tehsil Ghagwal district Samba and Jagdish Singh alias Fighter S/o Puran Singh R/o Nagrota Gujru tehsil Ramkot district Kathua. The vehicle minibus bearing registration No. JK08A-9806, owned by accused Arun Sharma alias Rahul, used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

During further interrogation, the accused persons disclosed the name of another person, a Scrap dealer, namely Palvinder Kumar S/o Sudesh Kumar R/o Adam Barwan Pathankote (Punjab) A/P near Amar National School Marheen district Kathua who was the receiver of the stolen property. Accordingly, Police arrested the said Scrap dealer and recovered the stolen items from his shop.

Further investigation of the case is going on.
