10 bovines rescued, one heled in Samba

Samba,: Continuing its drive against the bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has foiled yet another bovine smuggling attempt in successive day , arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued ten bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal. The vehicle used for illegal transportation of bovines was also seized.

A Police team headed by SHO Police Station Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, signaled to stop a dumper bearing registration No. JK19A-7376 coming from Kathua side for checking. But the driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed endangering the life of police personnel on naka duty and hit the vehicle with naka road barrier causing damage to it. The alert cops successfully intercepted the vehicle and during checking ten bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.

The bovine smuggler identified as Shabir Shah S/o Bagh Hussain Shah R/o Chamanwas tehsil Banihal district Ramban has been arrested.

A case FIR No. 24/2025 u/s 223 BNS 11 PCA 3 PDPP Act, 50/52/54 Transport of Animals Rules has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
