The court has refused to grant relief to the accused in the firing attack on National Conference President and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah in Jammu, extending his judicial custody until April 20. The order was issued by Sub-Judge Jeevan Kumar Sharma of Jammu.

According to the case, the accused, Kamal Singh Jamwal, a resident of Purani Mandi, Jammu, was produced before the court in connection with a case registered at the Gangyal police station. He is charged under Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3/25 of the Arms Act. During the hearing, the accused was presented to the court virtually from District Jail Ambphalla.
Inspector Shariq Majeed, representing the Special Investigation Team (SIT), requested an extension of judicial remand. After reviewing the case diary, the court found that the investigation in the case is still incomplete and the accused has not been granted bail. Considering these facts, the court ordered the accused to be remanded in judicial custody until April 20.
The incident occurred on March 11, when Farooq Abdullah was shot while returning from a wedding ceremony in the Greater Kailash area of Jammu. However, he narrowly escaped the attack and was uninjured. Onlookers immediately responded, apprehending the accused and handing him over to the police. A revolver was also recovered from him.
The accused was previously remanded in police custody on March 12, which was later extended. He was subsequently placed in judicial custody until April 6. Given the seriousness of the case, the police have formed an SIT, which is conducting a thorough investigation into the motive behind the attack.
The investigation is currently ongoing, and significant revelations are expected to emerge in the coming days.
