Four people from Poonch district died in a tragic road accident on the historic Mughal Road on Tuesday. The vehicle, which had been missing for a day, was found crashed in a deep drain near the Chattapani area, prompting police and rescue teams to begin rescue operations.
According to police, the missing vehicle occupants were reported on Monday, prompting an immediate search operation. After extensive efforts on Tuesday, the vehicle was found in the drain.
The deceased have been identified as Akbar Hussain, Mohammad Bashir, and Abdul Majeed, residents of Manganad (Poonch), and the driver, Shaukat Hussain, resident of Hadi Budha. Two bodies have been recovered so far, while efforts are underway to retrieve the remaining bodies.
It is reported that five people were in the vehicle, although the condition of the fifth person is unclear. A search operation is underway to locate him.
The difficult terrain and bad weather are hampering rescue efforts. The district administration expressed condolences and sympathies for the families of the deceased.
