Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has leveled serious allegations against the Election Commission of India regarding the West Bengal Assembly election results. She stated that the Commission is no longer a symbol of impartiality, but has instead mastered the art of electoral manipulation.
Reacting on the social media platform ‘X’, Mehbooba Mufti said that while India was once known globally for free and fair elections, the same Commission is now facing accusations of undermining the democratic process. She cited the West Bengal elections as a recent example.
She further stated that during the tenure of T.N. Seshan, the Commission was considered a strong protector of democracy, but today its credibility is being constantly questioned.
Political rhetoric has intensified across the country regarding the Bengal election results. Many opposition leaders have also raised questions about the election process and vote counting, further heating up the political atmosphere.
After this statement, the debate has intensified in the political circles and the impartiality of the Election Commission has once again come to the centre of discussion.
