ADC Jammu imposes ₹1.89 lakh fine for food safety violations

JAMMU: In a move to uphold food safety standards and protect public health, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Rakesh Kumar, imposed a penalty of Rs 1,89,000 under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) 2006 on several businesses in the district.

The fines were levied against offenders involved in the sale and distribution of substandard and misbranded food items across Jammu. The violators included manufacturers, distributors and retailers found breaching prescribed food safety norms.

Commercial establishments have been directed to adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper standards to avoid legal action. The administration has also warned businesses to comply with the law to prevent further violations and penalties.
