An innocent boy returning from a feast was strangled to death; the accused was arrested within an hour.JNM journalist Hardeep Jamwal, JammuA heartbreaking incident unfolded on Monday in Kanhachak village, Hiranagar, in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. A 12-year-old boy, a fifth-grade student, was murdered by slitting his throat. The incident has sparked an atmosphere of grief and outrage in the entire area.According to reports, the boy returned home from school around 1:30 p.m. He then left on his bicycle and told his family that he was going to a feast organized nearby on the occasion of Mahashivratri. Shortly afterward, villagers discovered his body lying on the roadside, covered in blood. A crowd gathered, and the family was informed.Upon receiving the information, a police team from Rajbagh police station immediately arrived at the scene. Officers cordoned off the area and began an investigation. Based on preliminary inquiries and information received from local residents, a 20-year-old youth from the village was detained on suspicion. During rigorous interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The police arrested the accused within about an hour of the incident and registered a murder case against him.The deceased’s father stated that he had a dispute with the accused about fifteen to twenty days ago. The family alleges that the child was targeted due to that rivalry. However, the police maintain that a detailed investigation is underway into the motive behind the murder and that action is being taken after considering all aspects.The district’s Senior Superintendent of Police stated that efforts are underway to recover the weapon used in the murder. The accused has been involved in previous conflicts. The police have taken the body into their custody and sent it for medical examination, and further legal proceedings are underway.The village is mourning after the incident. Locals have demanded strict punishment for the culprit. The administration has assured that a fair and speedy investigation will be conducted and a charge sheet will be presented in court.The brutal murder of an innocent has shocked the community. The police have appealed to the public to maintain peace and not pay attention to any rumors.
