Instructs strict enforcement of traffic rules, penal action against violators
KULGAM: In order to devise strategies to enhance road safety across the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee at the Mini Secretariat, Kulgam.
The meeting held a detailed review of ongoing initiatives and future action plans. It also discussed implementation of the Road Safety Act, rectification of black spots, installation of crash barriers, road signages, etc.
The DC took stock of progress on tasks assigned to various departments during previous meetings, with officers presenting updates on measures taken to address road safety concerns.
The meeting witnessed active participation from committee members, who deliberated on strategies to curb traffic violations, implement traffic calming measures and minimize accidents.
Athar impressed for strict enforcement of traffic rules and penal action against violators. He also instructed for large-scale awareness campaigns by the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) and other stakeholders, besides he instructed for removal of roadside encroachments to ensure smoother traffic flow.
The DC also instructed immediate rectification of pending black spots and identification of new ones, besides he instructed concerned departments for installation of necessary road safety measures, including crash barriers and signages.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), SE R&B Circle Kulgam, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Principals from Various colleges, Executive Engineer R&B, ARTO, Chief Education Officer (CEO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Executive Officers (EOs), and other committee members.
