Discussion on Motion of Thanks on LG’s address continues on third day

JAMMU,: On the third day of discussion on Motion of Thanks to LG’s address, the legislators spoke on different aspects related to overall public welfare of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking during the discussion, Leader of Opposition (LoP), Sunil Sharma, reflected on the developments happened across Jammu and Kashmir in last several years like construction of new highways and connecting Kashmir valley to rest of the country via railways. He also talked about tapping of solar energy potential of J&K in last some years besides increasing MBBS seats in GMCs of J&K.

During the discussion, MLA Ajaz Jan said that the people had extreme sigh of relief after formation of present government. He praised the government for ensuring various public welfare measures.

Participating in the discussion, MLA Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani raised the issue of drug addiction among the youth, employment avenues; illegal mining besides highlighting developmental needs of people. He said that the present government is still in the initial stage but the promises made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be fulfilled with its mission of sincerity, commitment and determination.

Speaking on the motion of thanks, MLA Sajad Gani Lone said that the present government needs to fulfill the aspirations and commitments made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mohamad Yusuf Tarigami, while speaking on the Motion of Thanks,  said that legislators are accountable to people and should work towards their interests.

MLA Mehraj Malik, while participating in the discussion, raised the issues of contractual employees regarding increase in their honorarium. He also called for tapping the full tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir for generating employment avenues for youth.

Speaking during the discussion, MLA Altaf Ahmad Wani praised the government for consulting legislators of every constituency during budget formulation. He raised the issue of rehabilitation of families, business establishments as well as ponny wallahs and other traders, who may be affected by the proposed road towards holy Cave via Pahalgam. He also sought formation of comprehensive policy for further promotion of tourism in Pahalgam.

MLA Ali Mohammad Dar highlighted the filling up of vacancies in government departments, reservation policy among other issues.

During the discussion, MLA Shakti Raj Parihar praised the efforts of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, for holding pre-budget discussions with all the stakeholders, so that budget reflects the aspirations of all people.

MLA Reyaz Khan, while speaking on the motion of thanks, said that the LG’s address is in complete sync with the manifesto. He said that government is fully committed to work for the welfare of people and fulfill all the promises made with them.

MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania, while participating in the discussion, said that Omar Abdullah led government should fulfill their promises made during the elections. He added that National Conference has given many guarantees during the elections that need to be fulfilled.

While commenting on the Motion of Thanks, MLA Choudhary Mohammad Akram raised the issue of regularization of daily wagers, hike in electricity bills and tribal reservation. He said that government should focus on fulfilling their commitments to provide relief to the people.

Participating in the discussion, MLA Payare Lal Sharma raised the issues regarding development in Chenab Valley. He said that the government should ensure time-bound completion of the projects there. He also said that 80 percent of local residents should be provided employment in power projects established in Chenab valley to address unemployment issues in the region.

MLA Sheikh Khursheed, while speaking on Motion of Thanks to LG’s address spoke abrupt hike in power tariffs and requested for one time amnesty of electricity bills for the consumers.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr. Sajad Shafi Uri said that the government and opposition need to work together irrespective of caste, religion and political differences to get back what we have lost after reorganization. “Future generations should not remember this house for non-achievements”, he said. He also urged the legislators to come together for restoration of statehood, as promised by the central government and the Apex Court. He also asked for tapping the Border Tourism and Eco-Tourism in Uri area.

MLA Shabir Kullay, while participating in the discussion, urged the legislators and government to file a joint petition in Apex court for immediate restoration of statehood as promised.

Participating in the discussion on Motion of Thanks, MLA Pawan Gupta raised the issue of daily wagers and asked for increasing their minimum wages.

MLA Javid Hussain Beigh, during the discussion, said that restoration of statehood will be healing touch for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
