As part of its ongoing campaign against drug abuse, the Railway Police Jammu (GRP) has achieved a major success. Police have arrested a youth with a consignment of narcotic pills from the parcel area of Jammu Railway Station.
The arrested accused has been identified as Vikas Kumar, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Jammu.
According to reports, late Sunday night, a team of Railway Police Jammu was conducting routine patrol and surveillance in the station premises. Meanwhile, a young man was seen wandering in the parcel area in a suspicious manner. Police became suspicious and stopped him and conducted a search.
During the search, approximately 104 psychotropic tablets were recovered from the accused’s possession. Preliminary investigation revealed that these tablets were banned and used as narcotics.
Following the recovery, the police arrested the accused on the spot and a case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act.
Currently, the Railway Police is interrogating the accused to determine where he procured the drugs and to whom they were intended. The police are also investigating whether any other individuals or networks are involved in this case.
A Railway Police official stated that illegal drug trafficking at public and sensitive locations like railway stations will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Such actions will continue to be taken to ensure passenger safety and protect youth from drug abuse.
