A sensational incident has come to light in West Bengal after the election results. Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant (PA) of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, was shot and killed. The incident occurred in the Doharia area of Madhyamgram while he was returning home in his Scorpio.
According to reports, the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and surrounded Chandranath Rath’s vehicle. They then opened fire. Rath reportedly received three bullets in the chest, killing him on the spot. The driver was also injured in the attack and was immediately admitted to a nearby nursing home, where he is undergoing treatment.
Chandranath Rath had been associated with Suvendu Adhikari for a long time and played an active role in the recent assembly elections. Therefore, his murder is being viewed from a political angle.
Following the incident, tension gripped the entire area. Police, the Rapid Action Force, and central forces arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched a search for the accused. A bullet-riddled Scorpio car was also seized from the scene.
This incident has once again raised serious questions about law and order and electoral violence in Bengal. The opposition is calling it political retaliation, while pressure is mounting on the administration to control the situation.
