India to send last batch of BrahMos missiles to Philippines under defence deal

India is preparing to deliver the third and final consignment of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines, completing a $375 million agreement signed in 2022. Earlier consignments were delivered in 2024 and earlier this year.

The Philippines has become the first country to buy BrahMos missiles from India.

Jaiteerth Joshi, CEO and Managing Director of the BrahMos Aerospace Joint Venture which produces the missile, said, “The rockets are ready. We will deliver them on time.”

He, however, did not provide a specific date for the delivery.

The $375 million deal included three missile batteries with a range of 290 km and a speed of 2.8 Mach.

The first batch of missiles delivered last year has already been inducted into the Philippine Marine Corps.

In addition to the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia are also in talks to buy the BrahMos missile.

Armenia, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Venezuela have also shown interest.

According to top sources, talks with Vietnam for a purchase deal have reached a significant level, and it will soon be finalised.

Reports have also indicated that the Philippines has shown interest in buying more batteries under the Horizon 3 military modernisation programme for land-based coastal defence.
