Due to the severe cold and cold wave prevailing in the Jammu division, the School Education Department has provided significant relief to students. Winter vacations for all government and private schools in the summer zone have been extended until January 17, 2026. These schools will reopen from January 19th.
An order in this regard has been issued by Dr. Naseem Javed Choudhary, Director of the School Education Department, Jammu. The order states that this decision has been taken in view of the safety of students and teaching staff due to the inclement weather and low temperatures. This holiday order will apply equally to teaching staff and students of all government and private schools.
However, this decision will not affect board examinations. Class 10th and 12th examinations will be conducted as per their previously scheduled schedule. The department has also directed schools to consider the possibility of online classes for classes above sixth grade, so that students’ studies are not affected.
Furthermore, preparations for the Republic Day celebrations will continue as per their scheduled time and schedule. It is noteworthy that schools in the summer zone of Jammu division were initially scheduled to open on January 15, but due to the increasing impact of the cold wave, the holidays were extended. Since January 18 is a Sunday, students will also get an extra day off.
Now, as the weather becomes normal, schools will reopen regularly from January 19
