JAMMU: Chief Electoral Officer, Pandurang K. Pole today launched a comprehensive Coffee Table Book documenting the electoral activities carried out in Samba district during the recently concluded Assembly Elections here at Nirvachan Bhawan.
Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Rajesh Sharma, was also present on the occasion. The book serves as a visual narrative, highlighting the district’s electoral journey and showcasing various initiatives undertaken during the election period, with a special focus on the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.
The coffee table book aims to provide a comprehensive and engaging visual chronicle of the democratic process in Samba district, emphasizing transparency and community participation in the electoral mechanism.
Stresses strengthening dairy, poultry sectors for enhanced economic opportunities for farmers
JAMMU: Minister of Agriculture Production Department (APD) and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department, Javed Ahmad Dar, today called for enhanced efforts in improving the quality of livestock fodder and strengthening the dairy and poultry sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking during a review meeting of Animal Husbandry department, the Minister highlighted that strengthening these sectors would not only uplift the livelihoods of farmers but also create significant economic opportunities across Jammu and Kashmir. Javed Dar asserted on creating fool-proof mechanism for quality check of fodder/feed used for breeding of livestock for production of dairy and poultry in J&K.
The meeting focused on critical initiatives under HADP, including dairy sector strengthening, poultry production enhancement and development of sustainable fodder resources. The Minister took detailed review of Integrated Dairy Development Programme, Integrated Feed/Fodder Development Programme, IPDP implementation and status fo flagship programmes including strengthening farms, hatcheries, Animal welfare activities, functioning of veterinary centres and other activities.
Earlier, the senior officers from Animal Husbandry Department briefed the Minister regarding initiatives undertaken to improve livestock productivity and support farmers in the Jammu region. Javed Dar stressed the need for evolving a robust quality check mechanism for livestock fodder, emphasizing its role in enhancing the health and productivity of livestock. He also underscored the importance of effective coordination between departments, innovative approaches to fodder development, and leveraging modern technology to achieve maximum output in dairy and poultry sectors.
The Minister said that the dairy and poultry sectors hold immense potential for contributing to the economic growth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reiterating the government’s commitment towards supporting the farming community, the Minister called for concerted efforts to address challenges and implement HADP schemes effectively. The meeting was attended by the senior officials from concerned departments.
Samba: Continuing its drive against illegal mining, J&K Police has seized three more vehicles in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba and Police Station Vijaypur which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material.
Police teams headed by SHO Police Station Vijaypur, Incharge Police Post Supwal and Incharge Police Post Rakh Amb Talli falling under Police Station Samba while performing patrolling duty in their respective jurisdictional areas, have seized three vehicles including two dumpers bearing registration Nos. JK21J-7206 & JK21G-7079 and a tractor trolley without registration No. which were being used for illegal transportation/mining of the construction material in the area.
The above mentioned vehicles have been seized by Samba Police and handed over to Geology & Mining Department, Samba for further legal action.
Transport Minister Satish Sharma approves 20% DA hike in favour of JKRTC employees
JAMMU : The Jammu & Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC), following approval by Minister for Transport, Satish Sharma, has released 20 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) in favour of its employees working in regular pay band/scale.
The Minister, while complimenting the employees, asserted that the JKRTC management and employees work round the clock to ensure better, safe, comfortable and sustainable travel experience for the commuters. He emphasized that the Omar Abdullah led government is committed to initiate all possible steps for welfare and benefit of JKRTC employees. The JKRTC employees expressed gratitude to the Transport Minister for his proactive role in early release of DA in their favour.
Also takes stock of admissions made in Nursing & Paramedical courses
JAMMU: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo today held a meeting of Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department to take assessment of the measures taken under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to ensure secure and hassle-free availability of services under this initiative.
Besides the Secretary H&ME, the meeting was attended by MD NHM; Principals of Medical Colleges; Director Health Services Kashmir/Jammu and other concerned officers. The Chief Secretary emphasized upon the Department to make best out of ABDM in creating a system to digitize the services offered by the Health Department. He called for digitization of health records in a safe and secure manner besides focusing on developing Electronic Health Records (EHR) for safeguarding these for posterity.
He maintained that such an exercise would be highly beneficial for the medics in proper diagnosis based upon the history of the patient and earlier treatments received by him/her. He directed for sending bulk SMSes to the people creating awareness about the benefits of ABHA to them.
He urged the Department to simultaneously take measures for periodical updation of registries of health institutions and health professionals here along with their availability and kind of medical/diagnostic services offered by each of them.
The Chief Secretary also emphasised upon covering all OPD admissions under ABDM. He asked for extending QR code based registrations to other hospitals in addition to those it has already been introduced in. He advised for moving towards creating EHR of patients that is the ultimate objective of the mission to make healthcare providing a paperless exercise.
While giving overview of the functioning of this mission the Secretary, H&ME, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah gave out that the main building blocks of ABDM comprises creation of ABHA IDs of the population here besides generating a repository of both health practitioners and institutions in the shape of Health Professionals Registry (HPR) and Health Facility Registry (HFR) respectively.
It was further revealed that till now nearly 90,90,802 ABHA ids had been created for the targeted population of around 1.36 Cr. Moreover the HFR contains all public health facilities and empanelled private institutions also.
Similarly the HPR contains records of 6448 doctors and 4488 nurses working here. It was added that 105 health facilities are extending scan & share facility for OPD admissions thereby generating 53,99,189 tokens till date.
Regarding the introduction of M.Sc Nursing course in the colleges of J&K, the meeting was apprised that 25 seats are available in Government Nursing College Srinagar which had been filled by BOPEE here.
It was further disclosed that the introduction of M.Sc Nursing course in the Nursing College at Jammu would be taken up with the University here after passing out of the first batch of Post Basic B.Sc Nursing here.Regarding the seat matrix it was given out that the UT offers 233 seats of M.Sc Nursing cumulatively in its 8 institutions established here in public and private sector.
Similarly 49 Nursing Colleges offer 2885 seats, 19 Paramedical institutions offer 1660 seats and 6 B-Pharma institutions had an intake capacity of 373 candidates for this course. As far as the admissions are concerned it was informed that out of 233 M.Sc Nursing seats, 206 had been filled till now. In the same vein 3150 B.Sc Nursing seats, 334 B.Pharma seats and 627 B.Sc Paramedical seats had been filled by the professional board and for left over seats by these professional institutions themselves here.
Samba: In continuation to its drive against the Absconders/Criminals, J&K Police apprehended an absconders who was wanted in a case FIR registered at Police Station Vijaypur during the year 2014.
A Police team of Police Station Vijaypur headed by SHO PS Vijaypur succeeded in apprehending an absconder namely Salam Din S/o Dulla Gujjar R/o Rakh Barotain tehsil Vijaypyur district Samba wanted in case FIR No.20/2014 U/S 451/323/147 RPC registered at PS Vijaypur. The said accused was evading his arrest since 2014 after the commission of the crime.
Accordingly, the said absconder was produced in the court of law and the arrest warrant u/s 512 CrPC issued against him was executed.
JAMMU: The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu on Monday paid heartfelt tributes to its esteemed employee, late Shri Mukesh Singh Chib, a member of Multi Tasking Staff of the department who passed away in a tragic road accident on November 29, 2024.
A condolence meeting was organized in the office premises of the DIPR Complex Jammu, to honor the departed soul. The gathering commenced with a floral tribute and all present observed two minutes of silence as a mark of respect and remembrance. During the meeting, staff members fondly recalled Shri Mukesh Singh Chib’s dedication and significant contributions to the department. His commitment and service were deeply appreciated by his colleagues.
Joint Director Information Atul Gupta, Joint Director Headquarters Vivek Puri, Deputy Director PR Jammu Ankush Hans, Deputy Director Headquarters Jammu Virender Gupta, besides other officers and officials of DIPR participated in the condolence meeting, expressing their solidarity and grief over the untimely demise of their colleague.
The department extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength and solace in this difficult time.
POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal on Monday chaired a crucial meeting here in the conference hall of DC office to assess the promotional activities and development of infrastructure in the tourism sector. The meeting highlighted the achievements and future plans for enhancing tourism in the region.
It was informed that the Poonch Development Authority is currently executing 37 projects across the three subdivisions of Poonch, Mendhar, and Surankote. Of these, 26 projects have been completed, while 10 are in progress.
The Deputy Commissioner assessed various developmental initiatives, including the establishment of Eco Parks, Tourism Parks, Children Parks, and other tourist spots. He emphasized the importance of developing robust tourism infrastructure in the district to attract more visitors and enhance the local economy.
Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned tourism officers to prioritize the development of infrastructure to support the growing tourism sector in the district.
