During the holy Chaitra Navratri, the enthusiasm of devotees for the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra is at its peak. Despite inclement weather, drizzle, and icy winds, the faith of devotees remains unwavering. The atmosphere is filled with devotion with chants of “Jai Mata Di” everywhere.
The weather remained unfavorable throughout Friday, resulting in a complete suspension of helicopter services. However, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the devotees. Devotees continued to proceed towards the temple via foot, battery-powered cars, horses, mules, and palanquins.
Devotees from India and abroad, wearing Mata’s turban on their foreheads, flags in their hands, and singing hymns, are immersing themselves in devotion. The entire route resounds with hymns like “Thaam le haath mera Maa Bhavani…” (Take hold of my mother’s hand) and chanting “Hail Mother Bhavani…” (Take hold of my mother’s hand) for the convenience of the devotees.
Extensive arrangements have been made by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for the convenience of the devotees. Strict security arrangements have been made along the Yatra route, where police, CRPF, and disaster management teams are deployed. Battery cars and horse services are being provided free of charge for disabled devotees.
Devotees are queuing up in the Bhawan complex to have darshan of the Mother Goddess and pray for the well-being and peace of their families by performing havan and puja in the Yagyashala. The Shri Ram Darbar pandal and other decorations remain a major draw for devotees.
According to statistics, 31,690 devotees visited the first Navratri on March 19th, while by noon on March 20th, approximately 21,000 devotees had registered and set out on the Yatra. The increasing crowds in the Katra and Bhawan areas are also bringing a buzz to the markets.
Despite the adverse weather, the devotees’ faith clearly demonstrates that faith in the Mother Goddess’s court overcomes all difficulties.
