District Judiciary, DLSA Budgam inaugurate Held Desk for upcoming National Lok Adalat

BUDGAM: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting legal literacy and amicable dispute resolution, the District Judiciary Budgam and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam inaugurated a Help Desk for the general public on the eve of the upcoming National Lok Adalat, scheduled for 14th December 2024.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the guidance of Om Prakash Bhagat, Chairman DLSA Budgam and Principal District & Sessions Judge Budgam, and under the supervision of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/Secretary of DLSA Budgam

The Help Desk has been strategically established at the Lawns of ADR Center District Court Complex, Budgam, and is staffed by para-legal volunteers (PLVs) of DLSA Budgam. The Help Desk is designed to offer technical and procedural support to litigants and the general public. It will remain operational until 14th December 2024, providing information and guidance to encourage participation in resolving disputes amicably.

This initiative underscores the DLSA’s commitment to fostering a culture of settlement and enhancing public awareness of legal rights and remedies.

Om Prakash Bhagat, Chairman DLSA Budgam, inaugurated the Help Desk in the presence of the learned judicial officers of the District Court Budgam. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between the judiciary and the public.
The Help Desk also aims to support the ongoing pre-Lok Adalat sessions, which commenced on 1st December 2024 and will continue until 14th December 2024.

The establishment of the Help Desk aligns with the broader mission of the National Lok Adalat to promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and reduce the burden on the judiciary.
