The Municipal Corporation has now adopted a strict stance to keep Jammu city clean and beautiful. The Corporation has issued a clear warning that strict action will be taken against those who display illegal posters, banners, or paintings on public property—such as walls, pillars, bridges, and government buildings.
According to the Municipal Corporation, in such cases, not only will heavy fines be imposed, but the perpetrators could also face imprisonment. This action will be taken under the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act, 2000, and the Outdoor Advertising Policy.
The Corporation has come to the notice of unauthorized posters and hoardings in many areas of the city, damaging public property and negatively impacting the city’s beauty. A campaign is now underway to completely stop this.
The Corporation has issued strict instructions to the general public, shopkeepers, political parties, and advertising agencies not to display any posters or advertisements without permission. Even advertising on private properties, vehicles, and rooftops without permission will be considered illegal.
Furthermore, those who have already put up illegal posters have been instructed to remove them immediately at their own expense. If the corporation has to take action itself, the entire cost will be recovered from the person or organization concerned.
The Municipal Corporation has appealed to the city residents to follow the rules and cooperate in making Jammu clean and beautiful, otherwise be prepared for strict legal action.
