A major road accident occurred on Friday on Mughal Road when a Swift car traveling from Rajouri to Shopian lost control and fell into a deep ditch. Six members of the same family were injured in the accident and were immediately rushed to the hospital.
According to reports, the Swift car (JK11D-4114) was traveling from Rajouri to Shopian. When the vehicle reached the Dubjan area in the Hirpora police station area, the driver lost control. The car then skidded off the road, fell into a ditch, and overturned several times.
Upon receiving information about the accident, locals and police rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. After considerable effort, the injured were extricated from the vehicle and taken to the District Hospital, Shopian.
The injured have been identified as driver Sunil Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Plavi Chandan, Aarav Kumar, Prachi, and Dua Kumar. All the injured are said to be residents of Rajouri district and belong to the same family.
According to hospital sources, all the injured are undergoing treatment and their condition is currently stable. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the vehicle lost control and skidded off the road.
It is noteworthy that due to the hilly and winding roads, road accidents occur frequently on the Mughal Road. Therefore, the administration has appealed to drivers to exercise caution and adhere to the prescribed speed limit.
