The ongoing campaign against drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir is now transforming into a widespread public movement. In this regard, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha participated in a foot march organized in Ganderbal on Friday as part of the Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir campaign. He stated that the government is taking serious action against the drug trade and its ill effects, and that this challenge is being met with the participation of every section of society.

Addressing the foot march, the Lieutenant Governor said that the administration, police, and citizens are working together to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free. He stated that during the special campaign, which has been ongoing for the past 55 days, more than 1,100 drug smugglers have been arrested, and 1,036 FIRs have been registered. He said that these figures are proof that the government is taking continuous action to eradicate the drug network.

LG Manoj Sinha stated that the drug problem is not merely a law and order issue, but a serious issue concerning society and the future of youth. Therefore, it is essential to transform the fight against it into a mass movement. He appealed to parents, teachers, social organizations, and youth to play an active role in this campaign.

He stated that protecting the youth of Jammu and Kashmir from the clutches of drug abuse is among the top priorities of the government. The administration will continue to conduct awareness programs and take strict legal action against drug traffickers. He urged youth to stay away from drugs and pursue education, sports, and positive activities.

A large number of local residents, students, social workers, and representatives of various organizations participated in the foot march held in Ganderbal. People pledged to build a drug-free society and supported the campaign. The administration described it as a positive and encouraging initiative towards freeing Jammu and Kashmir from the vicious cycle of drug abuse.

Those present expressed hope that through joint efforts between the government and society, the growing menace of drug abuse will be effectively controlled and a safe and better future will be provided to the youth.
