In a significant move against the drug trade, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested a notorious drug smuggler in Ganderbal district and sent him to District Jail, Bhaderwah. This police action is being viewed as a crucial step against the drug mafia active in the region.
According to police officials, the accused was taken into custody following a formal detention order issued by the competent authority under the PIT-NDPS Act. The arrested smuggler has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Khanday, a resident of Pati Shalbugh, Ganderbal. Police records indicate that the accused had long been involved in the illegal drug trade and was actively luring local youth into the trap of drug addiction.
Investigating agencies state that the accused was not only involved in drug trafficking but was also jeopardizing the futures of local youth by targeting them. Following the arrest and the completion of necessary legal formalities, the accused has been lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah.
Ganderbal Police stated that a continuous campaign is underway to eradicate the drug trade from the district. The police aim to protect the youth from the harmful effects of drugs and create a drug-free society. Officials emphasized that no one involved in drug trafficking would be spared, and strict legal action against such elements would continue.
The police have also appealed for public cooperation, urging citizens to immediately inform the authorities if they come across any information regarding drug trafficking or suspicious activities in their vicinity. The police believe that this deadly drug network can be completely dismantled only through the combined efforts of society and the administration.
