BARAMULLA: In an effort to engage with the community and address their grievances and demands at their doorstep, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa presided over a Block Diwas programme at Behrampora Watergam.
Block Diwas was attended by the ADC Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina; officers of concerned line departments, public representatives, delegations, and a large number of people from Behrampora and adjacent villages.
During the program, the local residents and the public representatives put forth their grievances and demands before the DC and the officers for swift resolution.
The main demands highlighted included the lack of healthcare facilities in the night hours, scarcity of potable drinking water, absence of veterinary care facilities in the area and other pressing issues concerning the local community.
During the Block Diwas event, the DC directed the health department to ensure the provision of 24/7 healthcare services at the Behrampura Primary Health Center.
He also directed the officers of the Jal Shakti Department to expedite the upgradation of the water supply scheme in Behrampora, ensuring that residents no longer face inconveniences caused by drinking water shortages.
Meanwhile, Minga Sherpa informed the people gathered during the Block Diwas that a state-of-the-art veterinary facility has been approved for construction at Chijhama Rafiabad which will address the needs of livestock owners across the region.
The DC also instructed officers from all departments to address the issues raised during the Block Diwas and ensure their prompt resolution.
Earlier, the DC accompanied by ADC Sopore and SP Sopore visited Amargarh Sopore Industrial Area and inspected the damages caused by the recent fire incident. He assured all the affected business holders of all possible support from the district administration to mitigate their losses.
