BARAMULLA: The School Education Department Baramulla, under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Scheme, launched an initiative to enhance food security and hygiene in schools.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa in presence of Chief Education Officer flagged-off vehicles carrying rice bins for distribution to 445 schools across the district. These rice bins aim to ensure safe storage of rice used in the midday meal program, a key component of the scheme.
As part of the launch event, a symbolic distribution of rice bins was conducted on the spot among representatives from various schools. This gesture highlighted the district’s commitment to ensuring quality and safety in the delivery of nutritional benefits to students.
On the occasion, DC emphasized the importance of safe food storage under the PM Poshan Shakti Nirman Scheme, highlighting its role in ensuring health and nutrition for students through the midday meal program. He stressed the administration’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in schools to support the overall well-being of children across the district.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the infrastructure of the midday meal program and improve the overall nutritional standards for students in Baramulla.
