DC reviews implementation of health schemes, patient care scenario in Poonch District

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting here on Friday to review the implementation of healthcare schemes and patient care status in the District.
Initiating the meeting, DC Kundal conducted a comprehensive evaluation of achievements under the health schemes, functioning of health institutions, infrastructure upgrades, and healthcare services available to patients.


Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Parvez Ahmed Khan gave an in-depth briefing through a PowerPoint presentation, detailing the health department’s operations. This included insights into block-wise healthcare centers, infrastructure status, human resources in the health sector, and departmental achievements.


The Deputy Commissioner assessed different operational aspects, including outpatient (OPD) and inpatient department (IPD) services, major and minor surgeries conducted, laboratory tests, institutional deliveries, ambulance services, staff rationalization, and the implementation of key health programs such as Janani Suraksha Yojana, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, National Tuberculosis Control Program, Anemia Mukt Bharat, and Jan Aushadhi Kendras, along with other online health services.


To address staff management, the DC tasked the department to start a rotation-wise system to meet requirements of medicos in underserved areas. To boost institutional deliveries at the block level, he emphasized the effective utilization of ASHAs in encouraging pregnant women and their families to access emergency services for safe deliveries. The DC also sought increased focus on immunization and vaccination efforts.


The DC reiterated the importance of meeting patient expectations and delivering quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare. He stressed the need for coordination among senior health officials and line departments to expedite the enhancement of healthcare infrastructure. He directed officers to closely monitor ongoing projects to ensure timely completion for the benefit of the public.


The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of meeting both physical and financial targets for the current financial year. Heads of departments are urged to ensure these goals are achieved within the designated time frame.


The meeting was attended by PO ICDS, CPO Poonch, CMO Poonch, CEO, EXEN PWD (R&B), EXEN Jal Shakti, EXEN JPDCL, Dy. CMO, District Tuberculosis Officer, District Immunization Officers, Block Medical Officers, ADMO Ayush and other concerned stakeholders.
