Unopposed Election as Youngest National President

45-year-old Nitin Nabin has been elected unopposed as the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is the party’s youngest national president to date. Returning Officer Dr. K. Laxman officially announced his election at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the BJP’s Central Headquarters. The party’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was present on the occasion. Nitin Nabin succeeds Jagat Prakash Nadda.

From National Executive President to Full-Time President

Nitin Nabin was appointed the BJP’s National Executive President on December 14, 2025. After playing an active role in the organization, he has now become the party’s full-time national president upon the completion of the election process. This appointment is being considered a result of the party’s internal democratic process.

Five-time MLA, Strong Hold in Bankipur

Nitin Nabin has been elected MLA from Patna’s Bankipur assembly seat for the fifth consecutive time. He entered politics by winning the by-election from the Patna West constituency in 2006. He subsequently won consecutive assembly elections in 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025. In the recent assembly elections, he defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Rekha Kumari by a huge margin of 51,936 votes.

Starting with a Political Legacy, Recognition Through Hard Work

Nitin Nabin is the son of senior BJP leader, the late Naveen Kishore Sinha. His father was a four-time MLA from Patna West and was considered a veteran leader of the Bihar BJP. After his father’s death, the public expressed confidence in his son in the by-election. This is where Nitin Nabin’s political journey began, which over time has become a strong and lasting chapter in Bihar politics.

Birth, Education, and Family Background

Nitin Nabin was born on May 23, 1980, in Ranchi (now Jharkhand), undivided Bihar. His mother’s name is Meera Sinha. He received his primary education from St. Michael’s High School, Patna, and passed the CBSE 10th grade examination in 1996. He then passed his intermediate examination from CSKM Public School, New Delhi, in 1998. He is married to Deepmala Srivastava and has a son and a daughter.

Experience as a Cabinet Minister in the Bihar Government

Nitin Nabin has also served as a Cabinet Minister in the Bihar Government. He held important portfolios such as Road Construction, Urban Development and Housing, and Law. Particularly as the Road Construction Minister, he has been recognized as a dynamic and result-oriented leader.

Youthful Energy and Modern Administrative Thinking

Nitin Nabin is considered an example of youthful energy, modern thinking, and proactive leadership. He consistently focused on improving infrastructure in his constituency, such as roads, electricity, water supply, and traffic. His regular monitoring of urban development issues reflects his work ethic.

In addition to legislative work, Nitin Nabin also held important responsibilities within the party organization. He has held organizational positions ranging from the BJP Yuva Morcha to the national and state levels. He was entrusted with organizational responsibilities in states like Sikkim and Chhattisgarh, where his work was recognized as effective.

Nitin Nabin’s appointment as national president has sent a clear message to the BJP that leaders who work quietly, with discipline, and integrity are promoted within the organization. The party views him as a leader being prepared for a long political journey.
