Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a crucial three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from February 5th to 7th. This visit comes at a time when the state’s budget session is underway and anti-terrorism operations are active in Kishtwar and Udhampur districts. This visit is considered extremely important from a security perspective.
During the visit, the Home Minister will hold a high-level review meeting in Jammu on the current security situation in the state. The meeting will discuss in detail anti-terrorism operations, infiltration attempts from the international border, and key internal security issues. Senior officials from the police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies will be present at the meeting.
According to sources, Amit Shah will also visit the international border in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district. There, he will inspect the modern security equipment installed by the BSF to prevent infiltration and directly interact with the soldiers deployed along the border to learn about their challenges and needs. The Hiranagar and Samba sectors have long been considered vulnerable to infiltration.
This will be the second major security review of Jammu and Kashmir within a month. Prior to this, on January 8th, the Home Minister held a high-level meeting in Delhi, while on January 14th and 15th, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, along with top officials from intelligence agencies and the Central Reserve Police Force, visited Jammu.
On the final day of the visit, on February 7th, Home Minister Amit Shah will travel from Jammu to Srinagar, where he will inaugurate various development projects and hold meetings with administrative officials.
This visit is being seen as a clear indication of the central government’s strict security vigil and strategic preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir.
