Amid the ongoing political situation in Iran and fears of US military intervention, peaceful rallies in support of Iran were held after Friday prayers in several areas of the Kashmir Valley on Friday. Protesters expressed solidarity with Iran while raising slogans against the US and Israel.
According to officials, these protests remained completely peaceful, and no untoward incidents were reported. Large numbers of people took to the streets in Shia-dominated areas of Srinagar, Pulwama, and Budgam districts, raising their voices in support of Iran.
Protesters in the Hasnabad, Nehru Park, and Gand Hassi Bhat areas of Srinagar were seen holding placards and banners bearing slogans in support of Iran and its Supreme Leader, Syed Ali Khamenei. People strongly condemned external pressure and alleged interference against Iran.
Similarly, demonstrations in support of Iran were held in the Main Chowk of Budgam in central Kashmir and the Gangu area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir. Tight security arrangements were made during the rallies.
Speaking to reporters in Pulwama, a Shia community leader alleged that the United States and Israel, along with their allies, are oppressing Muslims in various parts of the world. He said that through these rallies, the people of Kashmir want to send a message that the Muslim community stands with each other and will not back down in support of their brothers.
Protesters appealed to international powers not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs and stressed the need to maintain global peace.
