The nation is proud of the J&K Police: 54 personnel awarded gallantry and service medals on the eve of Republic Day

On the eve of the 77th Republic Day, the Jammu and Kashmir Police once again displayed its bravery and professionalism across the country. The President of India awarded the President’s Gallantry Medal (GM), Distinguished Service Medal (PSM), and Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) to 52 officers and personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and two personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Correctional Services.

Among all state police and central security agencies in the country, the Jammu and Kashmir Police received the highest number of gallantry medals, 33, placing it at the top. Maharashtra Police received 31, Uttar Pradesh Police 18, Delhi Police 14, and the CRPF 12.

In terms of total number of medals, the Jammu and Kashmir Police received 52 medals, placing it third in the country. The Uttar Pradesh Police ranks first with 90 medals, followed by the CRPF with 74, while the BSF received a total of 51 medals.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha congratulated all the officers and personnel who received the medals, saying that the courage, dedication, and patriotism of the Jammu and Kashmir Police are an inspiration to the entire nation. He expressed confidence that the force will continue to play its role strongly in national security.

The honored officers include three IGP-level officers—Mohammad Suleman Choudhary (IGP Traffic, Additional Charge Technical Services), Sujeet Kumar (IGP Security, Additional Charge Crime Branch), and Vivek Gupta (IGP Railways).

In addition, two DIGs—Dr. Mohammad Haseeb Mughal (DIG Traffic Jammu) and Nisha Nathyal (DIG Headquarters PHQ), and SSPs Tanushree (Pulwama) and Shabir Nawab—were also honored.

The Gallantry Medal recipients include several officers and soldiers of the ranks of Additional SP, DSP, Inspector, ASI, Head Constable, and Constable who displayed exceptional courage and devotion to duty during counter-terrorism operations and in challenging circumstances.

Zakir Iqbal and Mushtaq Ahmed Wani of the Jammu and Kashmir Correctional Service were also awarded the Commendable Service Medal.

This honor is not only a personal achievement for these brave soldiers, but also a symbol of the combative role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, which has been on the front lines against terrorism for years.

If desired, I can make this a little smaller (web/mobile version) or tighter for print layout.
