Ahead of Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recounted how a dhaba stop during their journey from Ahmedabad to Rajkot in Gujarat taught him a lesson that has become an integral part of his life.

Shah spoke about how it was Modi’s usual practice to stop by a party worker’s house to share a meal during his journeys. Once, during their journey from Ahmedabad to Rajkot, they stopped at a dhaba owned by a party worker, he said.
He said while Modi ate some fruit and water, he had a full meal, and it was only later he realised that it was the Prime Minister’s subtle way of fostering empathy among colleagues. Whatever he did was for the benefit of the accompanying party workers, so that they had an opportunity to eat and recharge, he said.
