People suffering from the intense heat and humidity for several days got a major respite on Wednesday when rain in the Basohli and Billawar areas completely changed the weather. Around 3 pm, dark clouds suddenly appeared in the sky, and strong, cool winds began to blow. The rain that began shortly thereafter brought a cool atmosphere and brought relief from the scorching heat.
People’s faces lit up as the weather in Basohli market and the surrounding rural areas became pleasant. The rain and cool winds brought a drop in temperatures, bringing relief to those who had been suffering from the heat and humidity for so long. Many people came out of their homes and shops to enjoy the weather. In the evening, the movement of people increased in parks, streets, and open spaces.
The most positive impact of the rain was seen among farmers. They welcomed the change in weather, saying it would prove extremely beneficial for paddy cultivation. In many villages across the region, farmers began plowing their fields and preparing for paddy transplantation.
