Jammu Police on Sunday busted two drug trafficking networks in two separate operations, arresting eight accused, including four women. Police seized approximately 500 grams of heroin (chitta), cash, and electronic weighing scales during raids in the Bahu Fort, Rajiv Nagar, and RS Pura areas.
The Narwal outpost team of the Bahu Fort police station apprehended Vishal Kumar, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, near Wave Mall. He was found in possession of 275 grams of heroin and an electronic weighing scale. During interrogation, it was revealed that he had obtained the items from Reena, a resident of Rajiv Nagar. During a raid at Reena’s home, police recovered 55 grams of heroin, a weighing scale, and ₹33,490 in cash and arrested her.
Police then arrested three female smugglers belonging to the same network—Sheetal, Payal, and Kajal—and recovered 13 grams of heroin, two scales, and ₹3,050 in cash.
In another operation, RS Pura police arrested three smugglers in the Chak Talab area—Inderjit and Vishal Kumar (both residents of Batala, Punjab) and Jagdish Raj (a resident of Chak Talab)—and recovered 186 grams of heroin. Investigation revealed that the gang imported the drug from Punjab and supplied it to various areas of Jammu.
According to police officials, the investigation into the connections and interconnected networks between the two gangs is ongoing. Preliminary investigations have uncovered several important clues, which are being used to further investigate the matter.
The message from Jammu Police is clear – no one involved in drug trafficking will be able to escape the law.
