Offering significant relief to government employees on the occasion of Bakrid (Eid-ul-Adha), the Jammu and Kashmir government has declared a special casual leave for May 29. Following this decision by the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, employees will now benefit from three consecutive days of holiday.
An order issued by the General Administration Department states that, in observance of Eid-ul-Adha, a one-day special casual leave has been sanctioned for Friday, May 29. This decision by the government has sparked an atmosphere of joy among employees and the general public alike.
Discussions regarding this decision have also intensified within political circles. The ruling Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has attributed this move to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s sensitive and thoughtful approach. Party spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar remarked that while some states are curtailing Eid holidays, the Jammu and Kashmir government has extended them, thereby honoring the sentiments of the people.
Citing the decision of the West Bengal government, he noted that while Eid-ul-Adha holidays there were reduced from two days to just one, the Jammu and Kashmir government has extended the holidays to three days.
Diverse reactions to this government decision are also surfacing across social media platforms. Many have hailed it as a welcome relief for employees and those celebrating the festival.
