The Jammu Municipal Corporation has begun finalizing its preparations for Census 2027. The census campaign will be conducted in 75 wards and 15 OG (Out Growth) areas of the city. The administration is appointing officers, enumerators, and supervisors, as well as training them at a rapid pace.

During a meeting held at the Municipal Corporation office in Town Hall on Saturday, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav informed that the entire census campaign has been divided into six divisions, with six charge officers and 24 field trainers deployed.

He informed that 980 enumerators and 162 supervisors have been appointed for field work. A total of 1,322 employees, including reserve personnel, have been deployed for this important task. The administration aims to ensure a completely transparent and systematic census process.

The Commissioner stated that approximately 85 percent of the staff have completed training, and the remaining staff will be trained soon. The self-enumeration process will run from May 17, 2026, to May 30, 2026. Following this, a door-to-door survey will be conducted from June 1 to June 30.

The Municipal Corporation is running a special publicity campaign to raise awareness about the census. Sanitation vehicles are visiting various wards to provide information. Hoardings are also being put up in public places and pamphlets are being distributed.

The Municipal Corporation administration has appealed to the public to actively participate in the census work and provide accurate information so that government schemes and development works can be implemented effectively. The administration has also clarified that all information provided by citizens will be kept completely confidential and will only be used for government purposes.
