Jammu Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking. Acting at a special checkpoint set up near the new terminal of Jammu Airport, the Satwari Police arrested three alleged drug smugglers, including a woman. Approximately 275 grams of heroin, ₹37,300 in cash, and a digital weighing scale used for the illicit trade were recovered from the accused.
According to the police, a suspicious car (JK02DM-6615) was stopped and searched during a routine vehicle check near the new terminal of Jammu Airport in Belicharana.
During the search of the vehicle, ₹37,300 in cash was recovered from the glove box. Additionally, a digital weighing scale was found in the possession of the young man seated in the front. Subsequently, a search of the woman led to the recovery of approximately 275 grams of heroin from her possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sanmeet Jamwal (resident of Ambphalla, Jammu), Lavpreet (resident of Amritsar), and Tarsem Rani (resident of Veer Singh Colony, Mulle Chak, Amritsar).
Following the seizure, the police registered a case against the three accused under the NDPS Act and initiated an investigation. Authorities are working to determine the source of the heroin and its intended recipients. Preliminary investigations suggest a possible link to an interstate drug trafficking network. The police stated that further arrests could follow in the case.
